CMP is a joint initiative of Environment and Health Canada (EC/HC) to assess and manage the risks to human health and the environment posed by chemicals in food and food products, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, consumer products, drinking water, and industrial releases. The program focuses on identifying and assessing the risks associated with a range of "existing" substances, including the 4,300 legacy substances identified by the Domestic Substances List (DSL) classification, as well as managing the risks associated with new chemicals.
The CMP will continue to assess and manage additional chemical substances to further reduce risks to human health and the environment, including populations who may be more susceptible to and exposed to harmful chemicals.
